Participants were advised to seek help when needed, to make sure their kids are not out of control, to make sure no one was getting left out or too hungry and to set appropriate limits for what the kids would do. And some parenting tips for single parents were telling participants to take time out when things get "out of control".

 

There are parenting tips for single mothers and parenting tips for single fathers - there are parenting tips for urban families and parenting tips for suburban parents. But the most helpful parenting tips for single parents seem to come from the experiences of parenting "by oneself" - from listening to our parents as they deal with their own parenting, and from observing how my parents dealt with their own parenting problems. This makes the parenting tips for single parents that parenting experts tell participants in parenting school - such as me - particularly valuable because parenting is such an individualized activity.
